The Library is open to students throughout the day and after school. Ms. Croce is always willing to help students and often has a dynamic project available; for example, a card making station for Mother's Day, a countdown to the end of the school year, a recycling station for Earth Day. She also creates displays throughout the library that highlight a certain literary theme.
I choose to work at Rice because: I enjoy working in a faith based environment and love inspiring a love of literacy.
What is your favorite thing about your job? Creating new programs in the library that get students engaged about learning and reading. It really energizes me when students feel positive about their learning experience and want to learn more.
If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? If I am lucky enough to have an unexpected afternoon off, I hope that it’s sunny so I can enjoy a walk at the park with my beautiful goldendoodle, Rosey and maybe get an iced coffee afterwards!
Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: The best trip I ever went on was an academic study trip in college to Israel and Palestine. I had the privilege of going to several holy and historical sites, and my brother came too!
Favorite tradition/fieldtrip/project you do each school year: Although I have not been at Rice long, I have been getting involved in the international program and leading some of the school’s eco-initiatives—we had so much fun on Earth Day!
If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice”? What would you say?
I think one of the best elements of Rice is the small school aspect because we are able to genuinely get to know our students and create learning materials inspired by their needs and interests. It allows us to challenge our students and ourselves better.
