On the final day of practice before Christmas Break, the Boys' Prep Program challenged itself to create a new tradition, the inaugural playing of the Brode’s Cup, named after our very own Athletic Director and Coach Brodeur. After a 21 game first half, the players and staff used this time to create an intersquad competition, where two teams would compete in 6 minute, 3 vs 3 full ice games.
Best of Seven was the format and it took all 7 games. After team green jumped out to a 3 game series lead, fueled by efforts from Assistant Captain Simon Ruel '22, Danev Paquin '25, Owen Severy '25, Leevi Kilpala '24, Alejandro De Blois '23 and Callum Chaye '23, team grey battled their way to even the series on the back of an MVP performance from Chris Sager '24 and plenty of help from Onni Puikkonen '24, Xavier Pariseau '24, Sammy Pallante '24, and Levente Pakozdi '23. In the final game, grey emerged victorious, completing the comeback.
Goalies, Justin Sullivan '24, Jackson Willet '24 and Mike Foglia '23 all backstopped wins rotating between the two sides. Unfortunately, injuries and illness kept other team members from being able to compete. The prep boys look to build on their first half and move into the second half healthier after the holiday break.
They will be back in action on January 6th when they head to Ridley College for an MPHL Crossover Weekend and will host the Hoosac School on January 13th at 1:30PM at our very own C. Douglas Cairns Arena.
