Henry’s project, Impact of Vitamin E on Streptococcus mutans-induced Dental Cavities, studied the effect of Vitamin E on a protein that controls tooth decay. Henry won the US Agency of International Development’s Science Champion Award.
Olivia’s project, Addressing the Plastisphere One Microbe at a Time, was a search for microorganisms that could decompose plastic waste. Olivia won several awards including The Stockholm Junior Water Prize, The NASA Earth Systems Award, The NOAA “Pulse of the Planet” Award, and the US Navy and Marine Corps Office of Naval Research Award. Olivia also received a gold medal from the State STEM Fair committee.
