The focus of this event is to encourage Sophomores to begin to plan for life after high school and to think about how the choices they are making today affect the options they will have after graduation. We use this break from the normal schedule to take some time to focus on your student’s longer term plans and goals.
The Sophomore students will be broken up into four groups and rotate through four mini-workshops. We are excited to have Amy Bell, Assistant Director of Admissions and Athletic Recruitment at Saint Michael’s College, who will be presenting on What Colleges Really Want in an Applicant. In this workshop your students will learn about the criteria used in making an admission decision and how they can strengthen their profile over the next few years in preparation for applying to colleges. Spherion, a local company that specializes in recruiting and matching job candidates with employers, will be presenting on resume building, interview skills and other topics related to the job seeking process. Our Guidance team will be facilitating workshops around Career Exploration and using Naviance and other College Search Tools.
Students will need to bring their laptop to the summit.
The Sophomore Summit will conclude with a career fair...
Career Fair - Can you join us?
We would like to invite current parents to participate in the career fair on April 11th to represent your profession during the afternoon session of our Sophomore Summit. The brief time you spend with our students will resonate in their lives for many years to come and will be an important formative experience as they begin to think about future careers! The format is similar to a college fair. You do not need to prepare a presentation. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the Google form by Friday, 4/5
