9th Grade Student Orientation will be Monday, August 26 from 8:45am-12:30pm at Rice.
We know starting high school is a big deal. With this in mind, we thoughtfully plan a fun and productive orientation that prepares students for success as the school year starts. At orientation, students will meet and get to know some of our current students, play ice breaker games and group activities, meet Rice faculty and staff, walk through their class schedules, and find their lockers. We provide lunch and snacks for all students.
Key details:
Drop off your student at 8:45am
Pick up your student between 12:30-1pm
Uniforms are not required for this event, students should wear casual dress clothes. (No hoodies, hats, ripped clothing, or midriffs showing please)
Cell phones will be asked to be placed on silent and put away for orientation
Attendance is required for all new 9th grade students
Orientation is for students only. Parents will be given other opportunities to meet our teachers once the school year starts
We expect student schedules to come out next week and we'll provide detailed instructions on how students can access their schedule via the MyRice portal. We'll also have printed copies of schedules for each student at orientation and will be available to help any student who has trouble logging into the platform.
Please do not have your student bring backpacks or things for their first day of school, we will have planners, class t-shirts and bags for each student
