Rice Memorial High School will be hosting an event for Sophomores on Thursday, April 13th from 9:30 AM-2:30 PM. We call it the “Sophomore Summit”. The focus of this event is to encourage Sophomores to begin to plan for life after high school and to think about how the choices they are making today affect the options they will have after graduation. We use this break from the normal schedule to take some time to focus on your student’s longer term plans and goals.
The Sophomore students will be broken up into four groups and rotate through four mini-workshops. We are excited to have Nick Drake, Associate Director of Graduate Admission at Saint Michael’s College, who will be presenting on What Colleges Really Want in an Applicant. In this workshop your students will learn about the criteria used in making an admission decision and how they can strengthen their profile over the next few years in preparation for applying to colleges. We will also have a presentation on Career Interests so students can start exploring a variety of careers. Our Guidance Counselors, Kim Pushee Hill and Rachel Rabbin will also host workshops. One will focus on Naviance and Building a Resume and the other will get students familiar with College Search tools.
