We couldn't be more excited to unveil the John P. Larkin Turf at Bill Landers Field. This state-of-the-art playing surface will be a game-changer for Rice, empowering our student-athletes to reach their God-given potential.
We’ll host a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, 9/26 at 3:45. We'll have a blessing from Bishop McDermott, very short remarks from Principal Nagy, a performance by the drumline, and a big celebration with our student athletes.
Following the ceremony, the Rice Field Hockey Team will take to the field for the inaugural game at 4:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to stay and enjoy the game while showing support for our student athletes as they make history on the new turf.
Students, parents, alumni, and community members are welcome.
“We are thrilled to unveil this amazing facility that will benefit not only our current students but future generations of Rice athletes,” said Athletic Director Neil Brodeur.
We are extremely grateful for the community of donors who stepped up to lead this effort, this field would not be possible without their support!
