Rice recently held a field hockey camp, with the proceeds going towards Neema International, a program in Tanzania that coach Kelly McClintock has been involved with over the last 10 years in a variety of ways. Girls got to learn new skills, elevate their game play, while also learning about the impact they were making. In Tanzania 70% of kids drop out after primary school. For girls, 52% start childbearing before the age of 18. The girls discussed how in Tanzania there are not many opportunities for girls to play sports. They reflected on the fact that it's a privilege and honor to play sports. The girls played with so much passion and energy over the 4 camp days while also making an impact around the world. $2750 was raised for Neema International in their quest to open up doors of opportunity for education in Tanzania!
