Rice Memorial High School junior, Sydney Adreon, has received the 2022 Billy Michael Student Leadership Award from The National World War II Museum.
The annual award is given to one student from each state who demonstrates the values and spirit of those who served our country during World War II. These students reflect leadership, initiative, courage, self-sacrifice and generosity.
Sydney is an extremely accomplished individual with marked excellence in community service. She is a talented athlete and has played on Rice’s State Championship Girls Soccer team, is on the Olympic Development Soccer Team, and is Captain of Rice’s Ultimate Frisbee team. Sydney is active in the Female Athlete Leadership Council and also started a chapter of Hope Happens Here - a student-led organization promoting mental health awareness and mental wellbeing. Sydney has also organized a cleat drive for Ghana, raised money for the Special Olympics with the Penguin Plunge, and is an outstanding member of our community. She is quick to lend a hand, thrives when challenged, and has a bright and positive demeanor.
Nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Miller, Sydney will represent the state of Vermont at a leadership conference in New Orleans this June.
