Coach Nunez took the helm at Rice in the Fall of 2018.
Prior to Rice, Nuñez was the assistant men’s coach at Northern Vermont University; Johnson, with the Men's Soccer Program in 2017-2018. During that season, the team increased the win total by 5 from the previous year which was a top 15 turnaround in all of NCAA Division III. Before that he was an assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the UVM Men’s Soccer Team from 2013-2015. In 2016 Nuñez began to focus on club soccer and became the 2017 Vermont Soccer League Coach of the Year. He continues to coach club soccer at Queen City Football Club where he is the head coach of multiple teams and a technical coach for all athletes.
Nuñez is a former Division III NCAA soccer athlete at Lyndon State College. He is also the founder of Grind Soccer Academy which is a local organization that provides private coaching, camps, and other programs to players in the off-season. He has trained current MLS players, USL professional players, and high profile college athletes including previous Olympic athletes. Nuñez continues to support the Vermont Green F.C.who celebrate their inaugural USL 2 season in 2022.
Previously Nuñez worked as a combat medic for over a decade and now currently works in Anesthesiology at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Denis is also a father to two lovely girls under the age of four and is supported by his wife Morgan.
