This is Dr. Jaramillo's first year as a teacher of religion at Rice. Dr. Jaramillo holds a doctorate in philosophy and has taught philosophy and religion at the college level. She has several publications in scholarly journals and was a Fulbright fellow in 2004. She feels strongly about the importance of introducing young people to the art of philosophical inquiry, and she feels blessed to be able to spend her days discovering Truth, Beauty and Goodness with her students. Dr. Jaramillo's involvement in the Church includes participation in the ecclesial movement Communion and Liberation as well as serving as a catechist for young children in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based program. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children; enjoying the beauty of Vermont, drawing, swimming, and reading voraciously.
