South Burlington native and Rice Memorial graduate Mathieu Bergeron has returned to teach. He brings his love for history, reading, and critical thinking back to Rice - the place where the foundation for this desire to learn was built. After graduating from Rice, Mr. Bergeron attended the University of Vermont and graduated in three years due to the amount of AP credits he acquired as a Rice student. He then continued his academic career at UVM and obtained his Master of Arts degree in History this May. While he was a graduate student at UVM, Mr. Bergeron was a three-time Graduate Teaching Assistant for a variety of History professors. Additionally, he served as a Graduate Student Senator for his department and zealously fought for the preservation of the Humanities curricula at UVM. Mr. Bergeron's academic interests include Canadian American relations, European history, American history, and Middle Eastern history. In his free time, he coaches high school football, serves as the commissioner of a Rice alum fantasy football league, plays basketball at local parks, hunts for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores, and enjoys the local food scene.
