Our goal at Rice is to provide comprehensive services that support each student’s personal academic, social/emotional, and spiritual growth. In addition, we hope to aid students in becoming responsible, culturally aware, productive and dynamic members of a changing society. Ms. Rabbin is the director of our Guidance team and focuses on expanding student services and continuously improving our college and career programming for students and parents.
Ms. Rabbin has been the Director of Guidance at Rice since 2019. Prior to her role as Director, she served as our International Student Coordinator, building our F-1 international program, as well as serving as a part-time school counselor at Rice. Before Rice, Rachel worked in Japan as well as South Korea teaching English. She now lives on a small farm and enjoys raising livestock such as ducks, chickens and horses.
I choose to work at Rice because: Rice is a special community built on a foundation of growth, love of learning and compassion for others. I appreciate being on a team that cares deeply about the individual success of every student. Our students are hardworking and dynamic and I appreciate every day I get to spend watching them grow.
What is your favorite thing about your job? Having the opportunity to see students develop their sense of self and find their passions here at Rice and beyond. I also enjoy building relationships with students, parents and the greater community.
If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? I would putter around my horse barn!
Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Backpacking through the middle east was surely a highlight for me.
Favorite tradition/fieldtrip/project you do each school year: The end of the year awards and other events are always a highlight for me. Celebrating the brilliant accomplishments of our students never gets old.
Favorite Rice tradition or event: Graduation is special every year. It is amazing to see how kids grow and change during their high school years. It is always a bittersweet moment for me.
Favorite Professional Sports Team or Athlete: We are a soccer family, and our team is Arsenal!
If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice”? What would you say? Serving the whole student is at the core of this building. As a private school that prides itself on serving the individual, we are able to adjust our services to respond effectively and efficiently to the ever changing needs of our student body.
Anything else you'd like to say? High School is not always an easy time for students. If you are looking for a small school with a caring and compassionate staff, Rice may be a good fit for your family.
